Evacuation order, warnings issued for parts of Southern Humboldt

SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT, Calif. (KIEM) –The Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services has issued an immediate evacuation order for parts of southern Humboldt in response to the rapidly evolving Hopkins Fire.

According to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, an immediate evacuation order has been issued for the areas south of Highway 36 in Bridgeville and all communities along Alderpoint Road down to the Mendocino-Trinity County line.

Residents are advised to use Alderpoint Road as an evacuation route. A temporary evacuation point has been set up at the Ferndale Fairgrounds.

An evacuation warning has been expanded to include all areas west of Bell Springs Road to Highway 101 spanning from Elk Creek Road and Dyerville Loop Road to the Mendocino-Trinity County line. This includes the City of Garberville.

OES urges residents to prepare for potential evacuations and be ready to go at a moment’s notice.
