Stabbing suspect in custody

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – A man is in custody after reportedly stabbing a woman in Eureka early Tuesday morning.

Around 8:45 a.m., Eureka Police was called out to West Hawthorn Street for a reported stabbing.

A female victim had non-life threatening wounds after an altercation with a man near the 1100 block of 5th street.

The man was identified as 30-year-old William Whipple.

EPD then got an unrelated call about an altercation in a moving vehicle near the 3400 block of F Street and the passenger of the vehicle was identified as Whipple.

Whipple is facing charges for assault with a deadly weapon in relation to the stabbing and violation of parole.
