Crews enter day 56 of fighting the Red Salmon Complex Fire

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The word of the day is focus. That’s according to Incident Commander Mike Strawhun as crews enter day 56 of battling the Red Salmon Complex Fire.

The fire has grown to about 104,500 acres and is 20% contained. There are 655 personnel battling that fire.

“We have a spot fire out here above Methodist Creek. Crews are snagging the road above Methodist Creek and securing that spot fire,” Operations Section Chief Jeff Hinson says.

The Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests remain fully closed, but parts of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest have opened back up for public use.
