Police investigate hit-and-run

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – A report of a woman ran over by a truck was reported to The Eureka Police Department on Friday night.

Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, a 9-1-1 caller stated a woman was hit and ran over by a truck on 13th Street in Eureka – then sped off.

According to Eureka police, a woman was heard in the background crying.

Jodie White – who lives on 13th street said she heard a scream -followed by a bang.

“A car took off the road over here, and she was yelling help me, somebody help me, and everybody came out,” White said. “This lady over here, she came out and said somebody call 911, and it was like, everybody came out from their houses, and the girl was laying in the street and she was yelling and really incoherent.”

White says, she saw the ambulance take the woman away and says she later found out the woman – who appeared to be in her early 20’s – is known to her granddaughter.

The condition and status of the woman is unknown at this time.
