CR Athletics awaits recommendation regarding future of fall sports

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – College of the Redwoods continues to feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The process has been difficult for all aspects of athletics. On the administrative side, it has presented a multitude of logistical challenges.

Athletic Director Bob Brown said the program has gone through six or seven different versions of the 2020-2021 schedule. Each was created, discussed, and thrown out or readjusted.

“From the administrative level, yes we need to get a firm date as to when we know whether or not we are going to be moving forward,” Brown said.

College of the Redwoods received good news in the form of a new date. On November 1, a recommendation will be made on how to move forward with fall sports which have now been moved to early spring. There will be a final recommendation made no later than November 25. Spring sports are currently scheduled to start in early April. A decision regarding those sports is expected in January or February.
