Humboldt bay firefighters get in some extra training

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- Humboldt bay firefighters got together at John’s Auto Wreckers in Eureka today to get in some extra training.

The fire crew ran through some scenarios to practice removing people out of their car after a severe accident.

The training that these firefighters go through is as much for them, as it is for the community.

“I think it’s important for the public to see that we are always practicing, always training, always honing our skills so that we can serve them better,” said Amy Conlin, Community Risk Reduction Specialist for Humboldt Bay Fire. “Hopefully they’ll know, you know, when they see Humboldt Bay Fire come up to a scene to help them, that they are going to get the best care possible.”

Conlin says she is thankful for the community support during the wildfires and is glad that the crew is back and safe.
