HUMBODLT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)- Firefighters have battled the Red Salmon Complex Fire for more than two months now, as it continues to grow across three national forests.

The fire has burned about 110,000 acres, and remains 31% contained.

More than 600 personnel, 45 engines, two dozers, seven helicopters and 20 water tenders are working together to fight the fire.

Operations Section Chief Richard Parrish is with North West Team 10 working the Red Salmon Complex Fire.

“Moving over to division Romeo, here in Tish Tang ridge, they’ll continue to mop and secure that at the defensive burning, they completed the other day, and continue prepping the indirect line being poised and ready for when conditions do allow to continue for that defensive burning into the future,” he said. “We anticipate that to be a couple days out at this point.”

The Klamath and Six Rivers National Forests remain closed indefinitely, according to the US Forest Service.
