Clothing drive held for fire evacuees

FORTUNA, Calif. (KIEM)- A group of women held a free clothing drive in Fortuna.

After posting a call to action on social media soliciting donations for fire evacuees they decided to hold a clothing drive.

There was an overwhelming response, and after a week of non- stop donations they decided that it was time to give it away to those displaced by wildfires.

“We tried to think about how we would feel if we were displaced from our home or our home burned down and that’s our complete wardrobe,” said Katie Kennard, a Fortuna resident. “That’s our shoes and everything that we need to be able to leave our home and feel comfortable and put together. So, that was where we decided to go with it.”

Kennard says, she offers delivery for those who are without transportation.

Those interested in donating or know someone in need, you can call Kennard at (707) 407-7916.
