Man arrested after HCDTF finds him in possession of narcotics, loaded firearm

FORTUNA, Calif. (KIEM) — One man is arrested after police find him in possession of narcotics and a firearm.

On Tuesday, the Humboldt County Drug Task Force was conducting surveillance in the 800 block of Main Street in Fortuna when agents saw 41-year-old John Henry Lee in the parking lot of a motel. Lee is a parolee and had an active warrant for his arrest.

Agents saw Lee remove a shotgun from a car in the parking lot and carry it into a hotel room. During a search, a small amount of methamphetamine and a digital scale was found on Lee. More meth and heroin, as well as a loaded semi-automatic shotgun, were found inside his room.

Lee is facing charges for possession of a control substance while armed and felon in possession of a firearm.
