Humboldt County, Calif. (KIEM)– Voter Assistance Centers are this elections polling locations. There will be 9 voter assistance centers where you can still vote in person. Redwood News talked to the Registrar of Voters, Kelly Sanders about the security of these locations.
“We have a lot of security procedures around our equipment. Everything has security seals on them, they’re tamper evident seals. Some of them have actual locks on them that you can only open with a key, but, we also put a tamper evident seal over that as well.” Said Sanders
She also told us that for the past several years, poll workers have been trained to deal with difficult voters. The Humboldt County Office of Elections is in contact with the Police Departments and Sheriffs Office. They have the addresses of all Voter Assistance Centers and Ballot Drop Box Locations.
Normally there is not law enforcement present at voting locations, unless there is a problem and Sanders is not expecting this year to be any different.
Earlier this month we spoke to the Registrar of Voters in Del Norte County. Polls will be open there and, all poll worker will be going through de-escalation training through the Sheriffs Department.
