HSU partners with SJSU for football preparation

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM) – Humboldt State University and San Jose State University are partnering in an effort to assist the SJSU football program.

The Spartans are headed to Arcata this week and will stay there until Santa Clara County guidelines allow for football activities. SJSU Athletics Director Marie Tuite explained the importance of the partnership.

“To prepare to compete at the FBS Division I level, it’s imperative that we move from conditioning and skill development practices to team activities,” Tuite said, “Moving our football program to Humboldt State enables our team to prepare, while our county continues the important work of reviewing and approving our protocols.”

SJSU is utilizing a hybrid learning model for the fall semester, which allows for the student-athletes to attend their classes online. Various virtual resources will also be available. Approximately 135 members of the SJSU program will make the trip to Arcata.
