HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-The Red Salmon Complex Fire has burned over 130,000 acres, and remains 31-percent contained.

An evacuation warning has been issued by the Siskiyou County Sheriff for the area four-miles around Cecilville.

Smoke from interior burning and defensive firing, mixed with that from the August Fire Complex, continues to blanket communities in the area.

Motorists are advised to use caution when driving, particularly on narrow, winding roads.

Planning Operations Chief Richard Parrish is working the Red Salmon Fire.

“Over toward division Romero, they continue to secure mop up and hold the defensive fire operations,” he said. “The fire continues to be held up in Horse Linto Creek there, and crews continue to, will continue to work and mop up and secure that edge.”

“We continue to have the roads crew up here in division Alpha,”said Parrish.  “They’re up there repairing the roads, grading, watering them from all the fire traffic, as well as the Big Hill Road that comes in of the Hoopa Reservation.”

Closures in the Klamath, Six Rivers and Trinity National forests have been partially lifted, areas which are closer to active fire will remain closed.
