HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-The August Complex Fire is now at  1,028,601  acres  and at 74% containment…

West of Ruth Lake, crews continue line construction from the Lassic Fire burn scar near Coffee Pot eastward towards the lake.

Helicopters remain ready to assist firefighters on the ground with bucket support, reconnaissance operations, and potential aerial ignition support.

Deputy Chris Trindade works operations for the August Complex West Zone.

“Crews are still working in that area, just north of Kettenpom, hardening those lines making them a little more secure and identifying any hazards,” he said. “We move south from Kettenpom, all the way to the Travis Ranch area, that area’s been in mop up for several days, and we are making really good progress.”

Crews continue to make progress on the Asa Bean Ridge and the Pine Ridge area, northeast of Covello

The West Zone is now 140,000 acres with 75% containment.
