Slater & Devil Fires continue to burn within two counties, Cool and windy weather expected Sunday

HUMBODLT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-Crews continue to battle the Devil and Slater fires in both Del Norte and Siskiyou counties.

The Slater Fire jumped to more than 156,000 acres and is now 75% contained as of late Saturday evening.

Cool, moist, and windy weather is forecast for Sunday, with a low chance for showers Sunday night.

Road repair damaged by fire, along with fire suppression activities was ramped up ahead of Saturday’s expected rain.

The Devil Fire is nearing 9,000 acres and is now 55% contained, because the fire hasn’t shown significant activity the past few days, it will transition to a monitor and patrol status.
