Slater and Devil Fires continue to burn

DEL NORTE AND SISKIYOU COUNTIES , Ca. (KIEM) – Firefighters continue to battle the slater and devil fires burning in Del Norte and Siskiyou Counties.

The Slater Fire has grown to more than 156,000 acres with 77% containment.

Incident managers and cooperating agencies continue to remove hazardous trees along Happy Camp Highway and are working to bring power back to Happy Camp.

Crews continue to strengthen the containment lines near Happy Camp and along the southwest flank to Kelly Lake.

The Devil Fire is nearly 9,000 acres with 58% containment. Workers are patrolling the area of the fire and using aviation and ground resources to control the flames.
