Red flag warning issued for the August Complex Fire

SHASTA, TRINITY, and MENDOCINO COUNTIES, Ca. (KIEM) –The August Complex Fire has been issued a red flag warning beginning this evening though Friday due to the high winds in the fire area.

Significantly more smoke is expected to be seen over the next few days as fire activity is expected to increase over the next few days.

Today, there are more than 4,200 people working to battle the flames in 85 crews, along with 34 helicopters, 61 dozers, and more than 300 engines are being utilized by workers.

The August Complex Fire continues to actively burn across the western half of the fire where fuels are extremely dry.

The fire has reached more nearly 1,030,000 acres and is 77% contained.

Smoke could impact communities in the southern portions of the fire area. Remember, if you see and smell smoke, you are breathing smoke.
