Red Salmon Complex Fire at 62% containment

KLAMATH, SIX RIVERS, AND SHASTA-TRINITY NATIONAL FORESTS, Ca. (KIEM) – The Red Salmon Complex Fire nears 142,000 acres with 62% containment.

Crews will continue to hold the fire south of the Salmon River.  Additional smoke may be seen as crews conduct defensive burns in the area.

The fire is holding near Denny and Miller Ranch.

Crews are working to repair fire lines, staging areas, and safety zones to help suppress the fire and minimize erosion.

Hot and dry weather is expected to arrive in the area tonight and last through Friday-producing critical fire conditions.

A red flag warning has been issued for the area.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for Denny to the Miller Ranch areas, but remain in place for the Forks of Salmon, Cecilville, and nearby residences.
