HOOPA VALLEY, Calif. (KIEM)-Hoopa Offices of Emergency Services will be working with food distribution or food box give-away – planned on The Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation – both Thursday and Friday.

According to Hoopa’s Safety Officer Abe Camez with the Covid-19 Management Team, flu symptoms are very similar to Coronavirus symptoms- and encourages Hoopa community  members to take advantage of the two flu clinics planned this coming week.

“So if you haven’t gotten your flu shot and wish to receive that, go ahead and show up down there that will be there for you” he said.  “If you are a Tribal employee, I am speaking directly to Tribal employees, if you’re feeling sick, do not report to work.

“Contact your supervisor, follow-up with your provider, don’t take the chance.”

OES Safety Officers will provide community members with face masks, along with hand sanitizers.

K’ma:w Medical Center will host the free flu vaccination clinic – which will be held this Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, and again at 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hoopa Food Distribution Warehouse.

Food boxes are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Hoopa officials ask that all community members who plan to participate to wear a face covering and remain in their vehicle at all times.
