HSU’s Natural History Museum hosts Halloween bingo

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM)- HSU’s Natural History Museum offers a way for those who want to celebrate Halloween while keeping state and local covid-19 guidelines in mind.

It’s bingo with a twist.

The event will include some traditional Halloween activities such as a visiting a pumpkin patch, creating a unique costume or carving a pumpkin.

The event will also encompass non-traditional activities, such as searching and finding insects under a log as directed on a bingo card. You may be tasked with making slime or even taking a picture of a spider.

Museum staff says because many traditional Halloween activities have been cancelled, they wanted to offer a way for people to engage in some Halloween fun, safely.

“Well, one thing we thought of was, there’s not going to be a lot of Halloween trick or treating this year,” said Melinda Bailey, the assistant manager of the HSU Natural History Museum. “So, we really wanted to share something with the community so they can do a little bit of discovering yet not be able to come into the museum and also have fun.”
