Humboldt County reports 9th Covid-19 related death, 10 new cases since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The 9th covid-19 related death has been reported in Humboldt County by the Public Health Department. The resident was in their 30’s.

The Public Health Department also reported 10 new cases since Friday. Health officials are monitoring 20 active cases. Of the total cases, 356 people had contact to a known case, 115 are travel related, and 74 a result of community transmission. There are 9 cases under investigation.

In the last week, 2 more cases have been reported in northern Humboldt, 18 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area, and 1 more in southern Humboldt. The biggest weekly increase in cases has been among people in their 40’s with 7 cases followed by the under 10 age group with 4 cases and people in their 30’s with 3 new cases. Teens and people in their 20’s each saw 2 new cases, and people in their 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s each saw 1 new case. No new cases were reported among people 80 years old or older.

On a more encouraging note, 5 more recoveries have been reported Monday as well.
