Aviation monitoring of the Slater and Devil fires

DEL NORTE and SISKIYOU COUNTIES, Ca. (KIEM) – Aviation assets are being used to monitor the Slater and Devil fires.

The Slater fire has burned nearly 157,000 acres and is now 83% contained.

There are pockets of isolated heat remaining in the interior of the fire, but little to no heat near the perimeter.

The Devil fire is nearly 8,900 acres with 60% containment.  It is being monitored by aerial and foot patrols.

A red flag warning has been issued for the fire due to eastern winds and poor humidity recovery on the slopes.
