Slater Fire remains 85% contained

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-The Slater Fire is more than 156,000 acres and acres and remains 85% contained.

The Slater Fire continues to show scattered and isolated interior pockets of heat, limited active fire edge remains on the southwest flank of Swan Mountain, and along portions of the west side of upper Thompson Creek in the Red Buttes Wilderness and Kangaroo Mountain Road-Less area.

Reopening the Grayback Road or Happy Camp Highway — continues to be a high priority.

The road remains closed for public use due to hazardous trees. 

The north and south flanks remain in a patrol status, with ongoing mop up efforts.

The Devil Fire is more than 8,800 acres and remains at 65% containment, the fire continues to be monitored by air.
