The County’s Small Business Restart and Recovery grant adds $600,000 for special districts and non-profits

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors approved an additional $600,000 to the county’s small business restart and recovery grant program.

This extra money added to the grant goes toward the recently approved $3.2 million relief program for local businesses that are affected by COVID-19 and have reopening plans that have been approved by the county.

Initially businesses were the only ones that could apply for this grant but with the extra money added special districts and non-profits were added to the list and are able to receive help from this grant.

The county has noticed that not many businesses or non-profit organizations have applied for this grant and they want them to take advantage of this money.

“We still have funding available and we want to ensure that we get this funding out to the community,” said Scott Adair, Director of Economic Development for Humboldt County. “If we don’t use all of the funding that we receive we have to give some of that funding or all of it back and we’d rather not do that.”

Adair said they’d rather see this grant funding in the hands of those businesses or those entities who were negatively impacted by the pandemic.
