10th Covid-19 death confirmed, 5 new cases reported since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — A 10th Humboldt County resident has died after testing positive for Covid-19. The individual was in their 80’s.

The Public Health Department also confirms 5 new cases since Friday bringing the total case count to 567. Health officials are monitoring 16 active cases.

In the last week, 5 more cases were reported in Northern Humboldt, 3 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area, and 5 more in Southern Humboldt. The biggest weekly increase has been among people in their 30’s with 5 new cases. People in their 20’s and people in their 40’s each say 4 new cases. People 80 years old or older saw 2 more cases reported in the last week.

Of the total cases, 365 people had contact with a known case, 122 were travel related, and 77 a result of community transmission. There are 3 cases under investigation.

On a more encouraging note, 6 more recoveries have been reported bringing that number to 541.
