Eureka Police identify bicyclist involved in Saturday’s fatal crash

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — New information about a fatal vehicle versus bicycle crash that happened Saturday morning in Eureka.

Police responded to the intersection of Broadway and West Wabash just before 11am. The driver of the vehicle had the green light at the intersection and was turning right onto Broadway from West Wabash. The bicyclist was traveling against traffic on Broadway through a red light when he was hit by the vehicle as he entered the intersection.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 67-year-old Thomas Burns of Eureka.
