Man arrested by HCSO after shots fired at a Eureka home

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — A man is arrested after shots are fired at a Eureka home. On Saturday just before 1 am, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was called out to a home on the 4000 block of E Street.

A 31-year-old male victim told deputies the suspect, 27-year-old Marvin Brice McGaughey, was inside the home with a 26-year-old female victim. The woman and a small child were found inside uninjured. McGaughey was detained.

Deputies learned McGaughey reportedly became verbally aggressive with the woman, and she asked the male victim for help leaving the home. When the man arrived outside, McGaughey reportedly shot a firearm at the door, then police say he got a second firearm and walked outside pointing it at the victim.

McGaughey is facing charges for assault with a firearm on a person, discharging a firearm in gross neglect, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and child cruelty.
