Wildfire clean up by the Department of Toxic Substances Control

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – The State Department Of Toxic Substances Control will mobilize resources for emergency phase one cleanup operations to clean up household hazardous waste and bulk asbestos from properties that have been damaged by wildfires.

D.T.S.C. was ordered by the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services to work with north coast counties and FEMA to conduct the removal of hazardous waste from the Slater, Zogg, and August Complex Fires.

Clean up is expected to begin November 2nd for areas impacted by the August Complex Fire.
