Election Day fears didn’t come to pass in Humboldt County

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)- Ahead of Election Day, there was fear of violence and voter intimidation.

Humboldt county law officials were on alert last night just in case there were any problems.

Turns out, many of the law enforcement agencies in Humboldt County didn’t expect to see or get reports of any major problems.

“Here locally, things overall went very smoothly without any significant issues being reported to the Eureka Police Department and as I understand it too the other agencies in the county as well,” said Chief Steve Watson of the Eureka Police Department. “People as a whole were respectful and considerate to each other and those positive things are what I expected to see and I’m happy to have seen that.”

Law enforcement officials say they don’t expect any problems once the presidential race is decided, either.
