Slater and Devil Fires have consistent containment

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – 215 people are currently working to suppress the Devil and Slater Fires.

The Slater Fire has burned over 157,000 acres with 87% containment.

Fuels outside of the recent fire scars consist of a mixed conifer over story and small trees and brush in the understory.

Crews are working to secure, patrol, and mop up control lines; and are spreading straw mulch and seeds over bare areas to help stabilize soils and mitigate the impact of incoming wet weather.

The Devil Fire remains at 67% containment and has burned more than 8,850 acres. It continues to be monitored by air resources.
