“So we have a beautiful line up this Kwanza Camp, we have activities that are body movement, were going to do some Afrocentric Dutch, jump roping, we’re bringing it all back. It’s exciting.

Week one will be held from Dec. 21-23 and on the 26th and week two from Dec. 28-30.

The founder of HC Black Music and Arts says programs like this create a place for youth to feel safe in a nurturing environment with peers that look like them.

Special guests such as Yukon, Madi Simmons, The Humboldt Break Dancers, among other artists will offer their talents.

Youth will have an opportunity to learn how to produce music, learn to protect themselves through jujitsu and join in on African dancing and drumming.

There is a cost, however, foster and adopted kids are offered scholarships.

Molofsky says, her organization aims to give youth a better sense of their cultural history through music, food and Afrocentric traditions.
