Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office multi-casualty incident protocol gains statewide recognition

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office receives statewide recognition for its criminal multi-casualty incident protocol.

The protocol is essentially a standardized plan for local emergency agencies, and serves as the basis for both responding to and training for a situation like an active shooter.

It brings together 69 different law, fire, and EMS agencies throughout the county. Having common training and standards makes it easier to work together when a multi-casualty incident happens.

The honor was awarded by the California State Association of Counties. HCSO was one of the top three in the state to receive the award.
