Community members invited to free drive-thru flu vaccine clinic Wednesday

EUREKA, Cali. (KIEM) – Community members are invited to participate in a free drive-thru flu vaccine clinic Wednesday in Eureka.

The clinic is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Humboldt County library’s main branch parking lot located at 1313 3rd Street.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends those 6 months of age and older be vaccinated yearly.

The health department stresses pregnant women, people who live with diabetes, heart disease, asthma, or other chronic health conditions, and people age 65 and older are especially vulnerable to the flu.

Common symptoms include a fever or feeling feverish, a cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headache and fatigue.

Flu shots are also available through medical providers and at some area grocery stores and pharmacies, Additional clinics are expected to be scheduled this winter.
