56 new Covid-19 cases, 27 more recoveries reported since Friday

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The Humboldt County Public Health Department confirms 56 new cases of Covid-19 since Friday. Two previous positive cases were reassigned bringing the total case count to 784.

The county is expected to move into the purple or widespread tier as soon as Tuesday, according to the Joint Information Center. Health officials are monitoring 121 active cases.

In the last week, 12 more cases were reported in northern Humboldt, 78 more in the greater Humboldt Bay area, and 7 more cases in southern Humboldt.

The greatest weekly increase has been among people in their 20’s with 36 new cases followed by people in their 30’s with 31 new cases. Forty year olds saw 11 new cases and 50-year-olds saw 9. Both 10 to 19 year olds and people in their 60’s saw 4 new cases each. Those under the age of 10 and people in their 70’s saw 1 new case each. Zero new cases were reported among people 80 years old or older.

On a more encouraging note, 27 more recoveries were also reported bringing that number to 654.
