Miles Slattery named permanent Eureka City Manager

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — Some good news for Eureka, there is officially a new, permanent City Manager, Miles Slattery.

The job was offered to Slattery at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting and was approved in a unanimous yes vote. He also took the oath of office during the Zoom meeting.

Slattery was selected as the interim city manager about 5 and a half months ago. He started with the city back in 2006 and has worked as the public works director and also led the community services department. Slattery understands he will face some challenges, especially during the covid-19 pandemic.

“Obviously the pandemic is a big issue right now. We’re continuing to find creative ways to help out our businesses and our residents. As far as long term, especially because of the pandemic, is economic development and helping out businesses and quality of life issues in the City of Eureka,” Slattery says.
