BLUE LAKE, Calif. (KIEM)-Food continues to be one of the most requested items during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Food for People is hosting a food distribution event tomorrow at the Blue Lake Community Resource Center, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., it will include canned goods and produce.

All participants are asked practice social distancing and to wear a face-mask while at the event.

A mobile produce pantry will also be set-up on December 23, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in their parking lot – and will include fresh fruit and veggies.

Senior’s Community Program Coordinator Kim Rios works with the Blue Lake Community Resource Center.

“It’s really heartbreaking to see how many folks are really in need of food right now, yeah it’s our biggest request.” she said. “So thank goodness our pantry is here, and thank goodness Food for People have the means to get the food out to our small community.

“Well, because we don’t have a whole lot of storage here, we ask the donation for food be forwarded to Food for People and then they distribute to us in our community.”

A full list of distribution events can be found below, Food for People asks participants to choose the distribution site closest to them.
