Woman in jail for abusing 9-1-1 Dispatch Center

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – A Eureka woman is in the Humboldt County Jail for improper use of the 9-1-1 emergency number.

67 year old Madeline Pereira is charged with making more than 100 annoying and harassing calls to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center.

She was taken into custody on December 27th.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone that it is a crime to make bogus calls to 9-1-1.

You could spend up to six months in jail and pay a fine of up to $1,000 dollars.
