HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-A Redway man is dead after the truck he was driving hit a tree killing him, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 5 o’clock Monday evening – a 63-year-old man- headed southbound on US- 101- in a blue Chevy pick-up – drove off the west edge of the roadway – traveled down a steep embankment then collided with a tree, head-on.
The victim was the sole occupant of the vehicle – and was pronounced dead at the scene – the driver was wearing his seatbelt.
According to CHP, the roadway, just south of Redcrest, was wet due to recent rains.
This is an ongoing investigation – the name of the man has not been released pending notification.
