1 death and 15 new Covid-19 cases reported Tuesday, Humboldt County reassigned to purple tier

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Public Health Department has reported one Covid-19 related death Tuesday. The person was in their 90’s and a resident at Granada Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. This is the 13th Covid-related death at the facility.

On top of this, 15 additional cases were also reported Tuesday. One previous case was from out of the County, so the total case count is 2,138 with health officials monitoring 701 active cases.

The county has reported 2 new hospitalizations. There are 13 people currently hospitalized, and 4 are in the ICU. 67 more recoveries were also reported bringing that number to 1,413.

The state has also reassigned Humboldt County to the purple tier due to worsening conditions. Changes under the new tier will take effect Wednesday night.

Remember, in the purple tier, all retail must reduce capacity to 25%, grocery stores to 50%, and restaurants, as well as gyms and places of worship must go back to outdoor operations only.
