H-DNL gets green light from Humboldt County Public Health

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The Humboldt – Del Norte League received permission from Humboldt County Public Health to move forward with sports deemed safe for the COVID-19 Purple Tier.

The league is awaiting approval from Del Norte County. On Friday, the North Coast Section allowed leagues to determine their own schedules. A final date of competition has been set for June 12 for all sports except football. The final date of the football schedule will be April 17.

The decision was made in cooperation with the CIF Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.

Last week, the league approved calendars for Purple Tier sports. The schedules are divided into two separate groups. The first consists of girl’s golf, boy’s tennis, and cross country. The proposed schedule would be from February 1 through March 6.

The second group is comprised of boy’s golf, girl’s tennis, and track and field. The calendar would begin on March 8 and end on April 10.
