Police asks public for help regarding ”shots fired” incident that left car riddled with bullets

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. (KIEM)-The Crescent City Police Department, on Monday, received a “shots fired” call on the 700-block of C Street, and now they need help finding the suspect.

Officers arrived on the scene, and found a vehicle, which appeared to have been shot five times in the engine compartment.

It’s believed to have been done with a 12-gauge shotgun, according to Griffin.  

A witness told police they saw a male suspect getting into a white 4-door vehicle.

Police Chief Richard Griffin says there was no threat to the public and no injuries or threats have been reported.

“I don’t believe that anyone was in danger there were people sleeping in the residence, the residence was hit with some of the pellets from the rounds,” he said, “I believe those ricocheted off the car. I don’t think the intention was to hit the house.

“It was targeted at the vehicle. We don’t have a lot of information of this it was targeted on the vehicle.”
