High school reopens to in-person learning, strict COVID-19 guidelines in place

DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-Del Norte High School will reopen tomorrow for in-person learning.

The high school remained on a holding pattern until the county moved back into the red tier.

 Once out of purple back into the red tien, the school was required to wait five-calendar days before students could return on campus.

Sunday was the fifth day-and because Monday is a holiday, Del Norte High will reopen for in-person learning Tuesday.

According to the the Del Norte Unified School District’s Superintendent all students must be screened for COVID-19 at home prior to coming to school.

Students will also be required to wash or disinfect their hands often, social distance and wear a mask, those who are exempt must wear a face shield.

“The Tuesday, Thursday cohort of Del Norte will come back, then on Wednesday, the Monday, Wednesday cohort, will come to Del Norte High,” he said.  “I do want to remind everyone that as our students do come back to Del Norte High we will be enforcing the hands, face, space concepts.”
