Bear River accused triple murder suspect makes second appearance this week in Utah courtroom

TOOELE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-Mauricio Eduardo Johnson, the suspect accused of killing three Bear River Rancheria residents made a second appearance in a Utah courtroom Tuesday afternoon.

Mauricio Eduardo Johnson appeared before Third District Court Judge Dianna Gibson for the second time this week from the Tooele County Detention Center.

Today’s hearing was swift, lasting no more than five minutes, Mauricio Eduardo Johnson was represented by public defender Brad Schofield.

Sanchez-Johnson is charged with the February 10th shooting and murder of 16-year-old Shelly Mae Autumn Moon, Shelly’s Mother Margarett Lee Moon, and 40-Year-Old Nikki Dion Metcalf, who was Engaged to Margarett.

According to the, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Eduardo Johnson must finish the legal process in Utah before extradition but says Humboldt County will seek a Governor’s Warrant to extradite back to California to face trial.
