EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)-The Rosewood neighborhood south of Henderson has seen a drastic rise in speeding vehicles along F Street. Slow ‘F’ Down is working with the City of Eureka to find a solution.

They are asking the community to write letters in support of Measure Z funding, if approved the money will go toward a traffic signal at the intersection of F and Oak streets.

A traffic signal analysis, in-line with California’s traffic control device requirements, was done, and it was determined a traffic signal is warranted at this time due to the location’s crash history, according to Debbie Hart with Slow ‘F’ Down campaign.

F Street resident Tom Haynes says a traffic signal would improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

“I think that should help a little bit, actually might be a lot really, should slow people down a little bit more,” he said. “Especially, I noticed in this section right here, to the crosswalk right there, and that’s for the school down the street from it [crosswalk].

â€œSo, when the kids start going back to school it will definitely help out right there.”
