MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. (KIEM)- A small group of parents were in front of McKinleyville high school earlier today, voicing their opinion on schools reopening.

It has been almost a year into the COVID-19 pandemic and as the guidelines have evolved and more and more vaccinations have been given, parents, for the most part, are very eager to have their kids go back to in-person learning.

“At this point, they are so craving of the social and the end of the lock down that they would be happy to go to school with masks and comply with whatever guidelines just to get back physically in school,” said Christine Johnson, a parent from McKinleyville.

They think the guidelines set by the CDC and local health officials are unlawful and they are hiding what is really causing people to get this virus.

“The waves that we get from 5G are detrimental especially the 60 megahertz, gigahertz,” said Amy Gundersen, a parent from McKinleyville. “The 60 marks is the most detrimental for human bodies.”

By the way, health officials say that’s not the case.

The group of parents believe that kids don’t have a need to follow these guideline because kids can’t spread the virus.

“Children aren’t spreading a virus. A 5 year old isn’t going to kill somebody if they aren’t wearing a mask,” said Elaine Zeigler, a parent from McKinleyville. “Yet I’ve worked in schools and I’ve found that they cause rashes on their face, children are getting dizzy and there are children that have passed out from wearing them.”

This group feels like there is no need to have these guidelines in place because it is hurting not only the children but also the community as a whole.

The group says it is planning on having more demonstrations and hope that Humboldt County students can get back in the classroom soon.
