About 700 people from across the world logged in to participate in the three day long symposium.

The event featured 17 sessions covering different topics from theater to music cooperatives to solidarity economics and the roles that artists have in social change.

“Artists are visionaries. We come up with ideas and create whole worlds whether it’s a theatrical word or a musical world or an artistic vision and create that,” said Ruthi Engelke, the Art, Culture and Education Coordinator for Cooperation Humboldt. “That’s really what we need to do. Capitalism is failing and so we need to be able to envision that world first.”
