DEL NORTE COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-The Del Norte Unified School District want to promote children’s development by helping families build on existing family routines through a new online book-reading video series.

‘Curiosity Corner’ is a new literacy resource to show families how to connect reading stories to children.

Each video will feature retired educator and literacy expert Susan Presba-Morris reading a story to her granddaughter Rosie, every week.

The program funded by Quality Counts California was designed to instill both the importance and love of reading to children.

MTSS School Coordinator Lisa Howard with the Del Norte County Office of Education says literacy is crucial to the development of children’s learning skills.

“Curiosity corner is brought to us by Del Norte Quality Counts program that is telling children, families and community members who to connect reading stories to children. It shows the need during COVID times that people are looking for new resources, especially to support small children.”
