Providence Redwood Memorial Hospital Foundation’s annual scholarships is now open

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)- The window to apply for the Providence Redwood Memorial Hospital Foundation’s annual scholarships is now open.

Each year, scholarships are awarded to Redwood Memorial Hospital employees, high school seniors or community members in the Eel River Valley, Van Duzen River Valley and Southern Humboldt communities who are pursuing careers in the medical field.

Eligible candidates must have been accepted into an accredited university, college or technical school with a healthcare related major.

The money comes from generous donors within the community.

“The scholarship program actually is a great example of the impact of philanthropy,” said Paul McGinty, Chief Philanthropy Officer for the Redwood Memorial and St. Joseph Hospital Foundations. “It’s not always about facility improvements or buying equipment, but we invest in physician recruitment and we invest in, hopefully, the next generation of care providers at our hospitals.”
