EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) — The Providence Heart Institute at St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka is hosting a virtual community forum on Wednesday. The event will not only highlight the services available, but also stress the importance of not delaying care when it comes to your heart health.

In a recent article by the American College of Cardiology, data suggests the pandemic may have had an indirect toll on patients with cardiovascular disease. This is potentially due to avoiding hospitals out of fear of exposure to the covid-19 virus.

“We are doing Covid testing prior to procedures, so we’re taking the necessary precautions before those. Anything with the heart, they’re just unforgiving medical emergencies. The services that we have available at St. Joseph, people can recover from them, but patients don’t want to delay or avoid treatment because they could suffer life admitting complications,” according to Corinna Cooper, Director of Cardiovascular and Cardiopulmonary Services.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday March 31st at 6 pm. If you’d like to attend, email Christian Hill at christian.hill@providence.org
