Non-Yurok fishers must obtain permit for eel, daily limit

(KIEM)

KLAMATH, Calif. (KIEM)-The Yurok Tribe is reminding non-Yurok eel fishers they’ll need to get a Yurok fishing permit, before harvesting from the Klamath River.

Lamprey fishing permits are available at the Pem Mey and Pek-tah fuel marts between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and cost $20 dollars for adults.

There is a limit of five eels per day and 10 in possession.

The permit system monitors and preserves the Pacific Lamprey stocks for future generations, all a part of the Yurok Tribe’s proactive management of the Klamath River.

Tribal harvest regulations are strictly enforced.
