River rescue on the Trinity River

WILLOW CREEK, CA (KIEM) – Three people from the Arcata area are safe after being rescued from a rock in the Trinity River.

On Wednesday, a deputy with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Big Rock River Access in Willow Creek.

Three people were stuck on a rock after trying to go swimming.

The deputy, along with some by-standers, were able to use rescue gear to get the people back to shore safely.

Sheriff’s officials say it’s still too early to go swimming in the local rivers because of high water levels and swift currents.
